Sibling Revolution

Success runs in the family, as Ioannis Chronopoulos and his sister Maria, age 9, demonstrated at the recent provincial gymnastics championships in Windsor. Thirteen year-old Ioannis, who claimed Team Ontario gold earlier this year at the Canada Winter Games in B.C., once again claimed all-around provincial gold — this time in the Elite 4 division. Golden performances on rings and vault catapulted him to the overall victory and a place in the upcoming eastern nationals in Moncton. Also triumphant at the recent International Cup at the University of Calgary, Ioannis has been invited to the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center in June. As for Maria, who placed first overall at L’International Gymnix in Montreal, she ranked highly in competition but was a mere .05 points shy of qualifying for Moncton.
